EXMOOR

Exmoor is one of the truly wild and beautiful places left in England.
The Exmoor National Park covers 267 square miles of Somerset and North Devon.
Exmoor has a wide variety of dramatic landscapes - including ancient oak forests, open heathland, steep combes and a unique coastline to the north.
Natural woodland covers one tenth of Exmoor, mostly in the valleys or combes. Exmoor has England's largest herds of wild red deer and is also home to the wild Exmoor ponies. There are many species of birds, including Grouse, Winchats, Stonechats and Harriers, as well as a host of other wildlife.

Exmoor is an excellent area for a walking holiday, with the South West Coastpath, the Two Moors Way, and the Coleridge Way all within the National Park, along with many other waymarked walks. With over 680 miles of waymarked footpaths and bridleways, the Park is a perfect place for keen walkers and country lovers.
Within the National Park boundaries there are also over 450 miles of bridleways, open to horse riders and cyclists, as well as walkers. Exmoor has some of the best riding country in England, and there are many centres around the area providing escorted rides.
The keen fisherman is well catered for, with numerous rivers and reservoirs to choose from. Species to be caught include wild brown trout, rainbow trout and salmon, depending where you fish.  Sea fishing is also popular from the beach at Porlock Weir.  The beach is predominently large pebbles and can be hard on tackle, but good catches of a wide range of fish are regularly had.
